New Writing Season

The new Writing season at Rose Bruford consisted of seven plays, one musical and a song cycle. This was to be held in one space which could be diverse enough to transform to the needs of each play. On this season there was no budget and minimal team, this meant we sourced most of the materials and produced what we could from already existing furniture and props. Working with four directors meant providing a space for each of them to explore their set of plays, every play had its own load and variety of locations. Kaitlin and I decide to use the theme of story telling, this provided a joining theme to variety of plays. We wanted to create a space which resembled a library, the classic location for stories, the original plan was to fill the space with bookshelves which could double as prop storage on stage, or transform for the needs of the individual play. Despite the small team and no budget, the season had great reviews and came together in a celebration of new work.
